Sodium Ascorbate consists of acombination of sodium and ascorbic acid (vitamin C). In this mixture the sodium serves as a buffer thereby creating the desired less acidic supplement known as Sodium Ascorbate.

Like other vitamin C supplements, sodium ascorbate is most effective for preventing or treating vitamin C deficiency. While it is best to get all your vitamin C from fruits and vegetables, taking a vitamin C supplement can ensure that you meet your daily requirement of 1000mg’s per day.

At large doses the body begins to absorb less vitamin C and smaller, more frequent doses have, according to studies, proved much more effective. Some studies suggest taking +- 500 milligrams twice daily with meals.

A quarter teaspoon of Sodium Ascorbate is equivalent to 500mg’s of vitamin C.

One must however not exceed the upper intake of 2000 milligrams daily without consulting your health care practitioner.
